Hello to all of our wonderful participants!  In an attempt to avoid any kind of confusion, we wanted to make sure that everyone knows that the Touch of Tennis program has ended and there will be no tennis today.  We are extremely disappointed that this summer has not worked out to our liking.   Unfortunately we ran into multiple roadblocks throughout the summer, including heat, rain, & construction at Gwynedd, among other constraints.  We really would like to have you all back next summer hopefully under far greater circumstances!  Best wishes in the off season and we will be in touch next year!

Hello again, We are planning on having tennis tomorrow night at Gwynedd Mercy University at 6:30.  Unfortunately, the weather does not look good.  We will cancel if necessary by 5 pm.  

We are very sad that the program has been delayed so much this year.  We are considering if we have to cancel tomorrow, possibly offering the program on Friday evening this week.  If you think you might be able to volunteer on Friday night, could you please send me a note to let me know (touchoftennis@gmail.com). We will take a look at the number of responses and see if we could make it happen.  Again, thanks for your patience with the unavoidable problems this summer.   We appreciate each and every one of you for all you do/have done to help with this program.

Hello Touch of Tennis fans! Guess what? We are heading back to the Gwynedd Mercy tennis courts. As always, the program starts at 6:30 Wednesday night. We really hope to see you there!

The front entrance to Gwynedd Mercy is closed due to construction. There is a back way into the tennis courts. Please use Evans Road to enter. Evans Rd. is just a few hundred feet up from the front entrance. If you are looking at the front entrance...the Evans Road light is to the left of the entrance.

Coming from route 202 onto Sumneytown....Make a left onto Evans Rd. (light is before the college). Continue down until you see the signs for Gwynedd on right. Make right and follow new road straight and it will loop around to tennis courts.

Coming from route 309 to Sumneytown...continue past light at college and then next light is Evans Rd. Make a right onto Evans Rd., Continue down until you see the signs for Gwynedd on right. Make right and follow new road straight and around to tennis courts.

We're Back!

Attention Touch of Tennis stars & volunteers!! Good news/bad news.... The bad news is that due the to circumstances out of our control, our program has been delayed a long time. There was a huge lingering concern as to whether we were even going to be able to have any tennis this summer. There also has been on going extensive construction at the University which has some of the roads on campus blocked off, including the main one that leads to the courts.

The GOOD news is that we DID find another venue! GPS says 11 minutes from Gwynedd! We really lucked out in finding someone gracious enough to accommodate us in the FORT WASHINGTON SWIM & TENNIS CLUB, of which, I am the newly appointed Tennis Director.

The program will start THIS WEDNESDAY, July 17th, still with the usual times 6:30-7:45 PM. As of now, the goal is to run the program out of Fort Washington Swim and Tennis MINIMALLY for the first 2 sessions. We will re-evaluate the situation for beyond then. Unfortunately what we do know is that the program cannot go beyond August 14th & cross our fingers no cancellations due to rain or excessive heat since no chance for make-ups at this point.

Although the swim and tennis club is not far from the University the directions certainly are tricky. DO NOT rely on GPS!!! Chances are very strong that you will get lost, so therefore we are offering VERY SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS that we have researched & test driven!!! I can't emphasize this point enough!

The directions will be posted on the blog as if you were coming from the University & also coming from 309, since we have people coming from all over.

These directions will be sent in a separate email blast, as we realize this is long already, but so much had to be covered!!

IMPORTANT UPDATE

We are sorry to announce that our clinic for this Wednesday 6/26 is canceled due to last minute and unforeseen issues out of our control at the university.

We are currently looking for other venues and hope to move forward with the program in July. We truly apologize for the short notice and are very disappointed ourselves! We'll keep you posted once new information becomes available.

Touch of Tennis 2019

We're back tennis fans!

Touch of Tennis, our free, nationally awarded tennis program for individuals with special needs, is set to kick off its 20th year. Our program includes tennis instruction and tennis related games for any individual with any special need. We are hoping for another great season with the help and instruction of members of the Gwynedd Mercy Men's and Women's tennis teams as well as our tremendous volunteers.

The program runs from 6:30 - 7:45 P.M and will be every Wednesday for 6 weeks beginning June 26th, 2019. The courts are located on the campus of Gwynedd Mercy University. In the event of bad weather (rain or excessive heat) please check Facebook or our blog (touchoftennis.blogspot.com) for updates. We will post any cancellations no later than 5:00 P.M. the day of.
